Rattlesnake Dreams

Hey there! Today I'd like to show you the development of a drawing I enjoyed making very much.
.

***
Step 1: It all started out as a long stretch of boredom. I searched through my bag and found two black crayons, so I decided to draw something. I was listening to the song Tree Hugger by Kimya Dawson and I decided to give the rattlesnake his dream.

***
Step 2: After I had finished the crayon drawing, I wanted to add some color.

Problem-A: The waxy quality of the crayon would not allow the paper to showcase any color properly that was applied on top of the drawing.

Problem-B: The paper I drew the original cactus and rattlesnake on was of very poor quality AND it was lined paper, so that would undrmine the quality of the colored version.

Solution: I made a photocopy of the original. The contrast was intensified, most of the lines from the sheet of paper were eliminated, and the surface was ready for coloring.

Step 3: I added color!
